About The Position

A Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) ensures quality, safety, and compliance of welding operations by inspecting welds, verifying adherence to standards, and guiding welding teams.

Requirements

  • Certification: CWI certification is mandatory, with additional certifications like ASNT, NDE, or AWS considered advantageous.
  • Experience: Proven work experience as a welding inspector or in a similar role.
  • Technical Knowledge: Extensive understanding of welding processes, techniques, and industry standards.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and specifications.
  • Analytical Skills: Problem-solving and quality assessment capabilities.
  • Physical Condition: Good stamina and ability to work in various environments, including outdoor and industrial settings.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; degrees in engineering, welding technology, or construction are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Inspecting and evaluating the quality of welds performed by others to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
  • Documenting inspection results, reporting findings, and recommending corrective actions or improvements.
  • Supervising or guiding welding teams, providing technical advice, and ensuring adherence to welding procedures.
  • Performing or overseeing repair work when necessary.
  • Coordinating with project managers, engineers, and quality assurance teams to meet project specifications.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of welding codes, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Ensuring welding equipment and tools are in proper working condition and comply with safety protocols.
