About The Position

Canon U.S.A., Inc. in Melville, NY is currently seeking a Customs & Trade Compliance Advisor (Advisor, Logistics). The Customs & Trade Compliance Advisor serves as a subject matter resource within a function by offering advice on difficult issues within their area of expertise. Provides creative and effective solutions to problems and assists in the development of policies and procedures. Has a thorough knowledge of the functional area, works independently and interacts with peer-level employees across Canon. May provide input into establishing annual objectives for the function. Typically reports to a Senior Manager or Director, and may mentor less experienced professional staff. This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office Monday, Wednesday and Friday and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance on other days). Note that work schedules and office reporting requirements may change from time to time based on business needs. Your Impact - Tariff Management involving Section 301, Reciprocal Tariffs and all other related tariffs as announced - C-TPAT Trade Compliance involving both import compliance and C-TPAT security - Export Compliance for both daily and auditing activities - Involvement with Drawback and Foreign Trade Zones - Communication with internal and external parties (including CBP and Customs Brokers) - Handling administration functions (meetings, presentations, etc.) About You: The Skills & Expertise You Bring - Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required, plus 7 years of related experience - Licensed Customs Broker - Customs & Trade Compliance experience is required - Previous management or supervision experience is preferred - Strong analytical skills and use of Microsoft Desktop Applications; Excel experience is required - Power BI, Tableau, Google Sheets is a plus - Strong organizational and communication skills - Up to 10% nationwide travel annually

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required, plus 7 years of related experience
  • Licensed Customs Broker
  • Customs & Trade Compliance experience is required
  • Strong analytical skills and use of Microsoft Desktop Applications; Excel experience is required
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Up to 10% nationwide travel annually

Nice To Haves

  • Previous management or supervision experience is preferred
  • Power BI, Tableau, Google Sheets is a plus
