About The Position

Federal Signal is seeking a Customer Service Support person whose responsibilities will initially focus on data and order entry, and then expand to cover a comprehensive range of customer service and support activities throughout the sales lifecycle of Federal Signal's products and services. Federal Signal, located in University Park, is a prominent manufacturer and supplier of extensive systems and products designed to protect people and property. Their offerings include integrated solutions for campus and community alerting, emergency vehicles, first responder interoperable communications, industrial communications, and command and municipal networked security, with specific products like lightbars, sirens, public warning systems, and public safety software. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years’ customer service experience within a business-to-business environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation with proven ability to maximize customer satisfaction and acquisition
  • Consistently capable of presenting oneself with the highest degrees of professionalism, composure, courtesy, and integrity.
  • Confident when in adversarial situations, possessing strong dispute management and resolution skills.
  • Excellent, clear and concise communication skills, both in verbal and written formats.
  • Astute listening skills.
  • Capable of critically reviewing and analyzing situations and developing effective plans of action.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, & Outlook applications required.
  • Attentive to detail.
  • Solid organizational and multi-tasking skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous manufacturing experience
  • Enterprise resource planning (ERP) business process management software experience such as JD Edwards, SAP
  • eCommerce and online chat knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Maintains order entry function through receiving orders, checking model numbers and other data for accuracy, and enters orders in the operating system and/or ecommerce platform.
  • Researches and confirms original order and factory set information, purchase orders, return merchandise authorizations and any other pertinent data needed to resolve customer disputes.
  • Utilizes QuoteWerks to obtain special contract pricing or quoted pricing to enter in orders
  • Expedites past due orders and long lead times to satisfy customer needs
  • Interface daily with customers, 3rd party sales representatives and Federal Signal Sales personnel via telephone, email, chat and electronic data interface (EDI).
  • Consults with customers regarding product warranties and the correct product mix based upon customer need, desired effect, technology involved and product/ service application.
  • Reviews return material authorizations for accuracy and will secure necessary approvals.
  • Continually acquires and builds knowledge on products, services and manufacturing systems to provide customer assistance in selection of our product lines.
  • Performs additional duties and special projects as assigned.
