About The Position

To provide outstanding customer service to the Citizens, visitors and employees of Adams County in person as well as over the phone.  The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking team player with excellent communication and people skills.  Additional administrative duties may be expected with this position. The anticipated hiring range for this role is $19.285/hour - $22.178/hour. The full range for this position is $19.285/hour - $26.999/hour.

Requirements

  • Principals and processes for providing customer service.
  • Modern office methods and procedures.
  • Active listening, being able to give full attention to and understanding customer communication and inquiries.
  • Clear and concise communication, both orally and in writing.
  • Operation of telecommunication equipment including switchboard equipment.
  • Use of PC office automation applications.
  • Development of positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to think independently and use sound judgement
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, push, pull, twist, climb and lift 25lbs.
  • Experience: Two (2) years experience in PBX, switchboard, customer service representative or call center operations, as well as operation of a PC utilizing office automation applications.
  • Education and Training: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • License or Certificate: None.
  • Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish highly desirable but not required
  • Additional specialized training in customer service and telecommunications is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls for Adams County, provide proper call routing, and provide responses to customer inquiries.
  • Receive visitors; direct them to agencies, departments and/or individuals.
  • Operate and manage switchboard telecommunications and computer equipment.
  • Perform clerical duties such as word processing and filing.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
