The Customer Service Representative is at the heart of the GSS mission to provide an exemplary customer experience. They provide friendly support to GSS customers in a prompt and professional manner. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, work well on a team, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one to three years’ experience in customer service.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities under time-critical constraints.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with office software, i.e., Outlook, Word, and especially Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a science-related field.
  • Proficiency with computers and their applications.
  • ERP experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver frontline customer-level support to general customer accounts and inquiries, offering one-call resolution where possible.
  • Process requests for quotations (RFQs).
  • Process and manage standard orders under $10,000 under general supervision.
  • Support the direct sales team and general 800# phone lines.
  • Identify material cross-reference opportunities to meet delivery requirements.
  • Determine new product requirements and potential needs for a new source of supply or special price quotations based on customer requests.
  • Cross-collaborate with other team members and departments to best meet the needs of the customers.
  • Communicate with suppliers to confirm pricing and product availability.
  • Supply documentation such as quotes, order confirmations, shipment confirmations, and invoices to customers as requested.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
