About The Position

Are you a friendly, outgoing communicator who enjoys working with clients? Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery of New Mexico, part of Animal Outpatient Specialty Network, is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant with shared Client Service responsibilities to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a veterinary hospital and a strong commitment to client service and patient care.

We are a multi-doctor, AAHA-accredited referral specialty practice dedicated to treating dogs and cats in Albuquerque. Our hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Because of our unique specialty, we frequently volunteer our services to zoos and sanctuaries throughout New Mexico and beyond.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must have experience working in the public (ie: restaurant, retail or service business)
• Dependable attendance is required
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds
• The ability to walk, bend, squat, stand or reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a veterinary hospital or doctor’s office is a plus

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome clients
• Manage appointments
• Triage referrals
• Prepare clients for exam room consultations
• Assist doctors during examinations
• Review treatment plans with clients
• Process invoices
• Collect payments
• Restrain patients for IV catheter placement and venipunctures
• Assist doctors during surgery as needed
• Prepare discharge instructions for clients
• Maintain a clean and organized hospital environment, including surgical equipment and instruments, kennels, treatment areas, lobby, laundry, and restrooms
