About The Position

Customer Service Representative - Stony Brook CPMP Patient Accounts Location: East Setauket, NY; At the manager’s discretion, this role may be eligible for remote work; this position is only available to New York State Residents. Schedule: Full time Days/Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:30 AM - 5 PM Pay: $23.00 - $28.74 Our compensation philosophy aims to provide marketable compensation programs and to compensate employees based on relevant experience and education. Salaries vary depending on experience, education and current market for the position. Human Resources determines the external and internal equitable salary for each employee. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents Stony Brook CPMP’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting Responsibilities SUMMARY: The incumbent under general supervision and according to established policies &procedures is responsible for accurately and efficiently answering and scheduling patient appointments. Requires a high-level problem solving and analytical skills with the highest ethical standards. The incumbent must be self-directed and self-motivated and able to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a high level of productivity and accuracy.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Three (3) years of customer service/call center experience. In lieu of this requirement, will accept two years of medical billing related experience or graduation from a medical billing program.
  • Must have excellent expressive and written communication skills
  • Must be highly organized
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Heavy telephone experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Computer literate with knowledge of medical insurance policies, reimbursement and medical terminology.
  • Experience with insurance websites.

Responsibilities

  • Review various EMRs to review notes, insurance and form folders to assist in resolving patient inquiries.
  • Conduct insurance verification.
  • Handle high volume of patient telephone calls.
  • Provide customer service to patients.
  • Demonstrate courteous and professional behavior when dealing with patients.
  • Document and take appropriate action for all telephone calls in billing system.
  • Resolve patient inquiries or escalate for solution.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management
