About The Position

Galveston County Health District is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Customer Service Representative III to join our Community Health Services team. In this role, you will ensure timely follow-up on positive chlamydia and gonorrhea cases, assign field records, document sex partner elicitation/notification in the THISIS system, and provide provider education for Galveston, Brazoria, and Chambers counties. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent
  • 1+ years of related experience in the Community Health Field (community service aide, community worker, or community outreach) – OR – 15 hours of accredited college coursework may be substituted for experience (must provide transcript)
  • Must be able to pass the FSTDI class within six (6) months of employment
  • Knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS infection preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively at different levels and maintain confidential information
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Phlebotomy technician experience helpful
  • Ability for spur-of-the-moment transportation without relying on organization vehicles
  • Valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain one; Department of Motor Vehicle check may be required
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Must comply with GCHD Immunization Policy and ICS training requirements
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug/alcohol screening
  • Equivalent education and experience may be considered

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS infection preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Phlebotomy technician experience helpful

Responsibilities

  • Assign and track field records for Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS), prioritizing follow-up for women who are pregnant or of childbearing age
  • Follow up on all positive chlamydia and gonorrhea cases to ensure proper treatment is received
  • Enter and maintain accurate case information in the THISIS system for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia cases
  • Conduct provider education and maintain relationships with physicians, medical facilities, and laboratories
  • Perform data entry and clerical duties in THISIS for Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and Syphilis cases
  • Review medical records to confirm testing, treatment, and demographics; complete required forms on time
  • Respond to out-of-jurisdiction (OOJ) requests in a timely manner
  • Download and disseminate laboratory reports and review methods of communication for reportable conditions
  • Assist with venipuncture at community events as needed
  • Follow Standing Delegation Orders (SDOs) issued by the local health authority, including sex-partner elicitation, notification, and expedited partner therapy
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual reports for HIV/STD program accountability and quality assurance
  • Perform routine office tasks: typing, filing, faxing, printing, mailing, and data entry
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
