About The Position

As the Customer Service Lead specializing in Green Goods, you'll be the go-to expert in our lawn, garden, and plant department. In this leadership role, you'll guide both customers and team members, ensuring that everyone receives top-notch service and accurate information about plant care, soil health, lawn maintenance, and natural gardening solutions. You'll also help maintain the health and appearance of our green goods inventory, lead merchandising efforts, and support store operations.

Requirements

  • Strong passion and knowledge of plants, gardening, and natural lawn care
  • Previous retail or garden center experience required; leadership experience preferred
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead by example
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and be on your feet for extended periods
  • Weekend and evening availability may be required
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years of sales experience: assisting customers with purchases and using selling techniques (add-ons, upselling, etc.)
  • Knowledge of soil amendments, trees, shrubs, annuals, and/or perennials and their use in local conditions required.
  • Education or previous work experience in horticulture, greenhouse, nursery, floral, and/or landscaping required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level support on plant care, landscaping, lawn products, and natural gardening methods
  • Lead by example in delivering outstanding customer service and solution-based selling
  • Assist customers in selecting the right plants, soils, fertilizers, pest control, and tools for their specific needs
  • Handle escalated customer questions or concerns in a professional and knowledgeable manner
  • Oversee the health and care of plants, including watering, pruning, fertilizing, and pest management
  • Ensure daily upkeep of garden center displays and green goods areas
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate reordering needs to management
  • Mentor and train team members on green goods knowledge, customer service, and proper plant care practices
  • Support the Store Manager in delegating tasks and maintaining department goals
  • Help onboard new associates and foster a collaborative team environment
  • Create appealing and educational displays to promote seasonal products and garden solutions
  • Support with general store duties including cashiering, stocking, and cleanliness
  • Participate in and lead seasonal events, workshops, or in-store promotions related to green goods
