About The Position

Calvert County Government is seeking a personable and dynamic individual to be the first point of contact for visitors at our Northeast Community Center. The ideal candidate will have a passion for engaging with people of all ages and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include multitasking by answering phone calls, promptly responding to email inquiries, addressing questions, and tracking attendance. Availability for evening and weekend shifts is required. Operates the front desk area of Recreation Center. Operates the front desk area of Recreation Center. Performs operations from established guidelines or instructions. Work requires independent thought and the ability to adjust to changing environments.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of-- Public service practices.
  • Knowledge of-- Building operation procedures.
  • Knowledge of-- Basic computer operation.
  • Ability to-- Maintain cash and reports.
  • Ability to-- Interpret rules and regulations and apply to situations.
  • Ability to-- Operate basic computer software.
  • Ability to-- Deal effectively with the public.
  • Ability to-- Operate registration software.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two years experience working in a customer service-oriented position.
  • Subject to background investigation if employed in the Department of Parks and Recreation.
  • Requires long periods of sitting, standing, frequent walking indoors, repeated bending, crouching, stooping, stretching or reaching; recurring lifting of objects up to 49 pounds; operation of keyboard devices.
  • Required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • First Aid and CPR certificates preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the front desk area.
  • Processes class registration.
  • Processes membership cards and fees.
  • Operates cash register, opening, close-out, etc.
  • Assists with the preparation of financial and attendance reports.
  • Answers telephone.
  • Responds to inquires for information or assistance.
  • Interprets and explains rules and regulations; reports violations.
  • Staffs special events as required.
  • Performs related work as required.
