Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Willingness to go through and pass the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test. This can typically be accomplished within a week to get you started.
Knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment.
Physical ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
Attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Cleaning and Sanitizing: Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors regularly.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, and common areas.
Trash Removal: Empty waste receptacles and dispose of trash.
Sort and recycle materials according to school policies.
Surface Maintenance: Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and surfaces.
Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.
Floor Care: Strip, wax, and buff floors as needed.
Shampoo carpets and rugs.
Restocking Supplies: Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and toiletries.
Inform supervisors of any supply needs or equipment malfunctions.
Maintenance Tasks: Report maintenance issues, damages, and needed repairs promptly.
Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and fixing minor plumbing issues.
Event Support: Assist with set-up and clean-up for special events, meetings, and activities.
Arrange furniture and equipment as needed.
Safety and Security: Monitor and report safety hazards and security concerns.
Ensure that exits are clear and accessible.
Seasonal Duties: Perform seasonal tasks, such as snow removal and salting during winter.
Assist with landscaping duties during warmer months.
Collaboration: Coordinate with other custodial staff to ensure comprehensive coverage.
Communicate effectively with school staff and administrators.
Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines.
Follow school policies and procedures related to custodial tasks.
