About The Position

The Custodian (Recreation Center) is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment within the Recreation Center and, as assigned, other ASI-managed facilities. The position supports daily operations of the Recreation Center by performing routine and deep-cleaning tasks, preparing program and activity spaces, restocking supplies, and ensuring all facility spaces meet established health, safety, and sanitation standards. This position is based at the Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA.

Requirements

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
Minimum one (1) year of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
Knowledge of standard custodial practices, cleaning methods, and sanitation procedures.
Ability to follow directions, procedures, and checklists.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with staff.
Strong attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing facility needs or event schedules.
Basic computer proficiency.
Ability to move heavy materials up to 50 pounds in weight.
Regular physical activity required, including lifting, bending, walking, pushing, pulling, and handling custodial equipment.
Work may occur in noisy, wet, humid, or high-traffic environments and requires movement between multiple facilities.
