About The Position

Support the University community by performing custodial and maintenance duties that ensure clean, safe, and well-maintained buildings and facilities under general supervision. Assist with the setup and tear down of equipment and materials for special events as directed. This position has been deemed essential as addressed in the University of Wyoming’s Employee Handbook [http://www.uwyo.edu/hr/_files/docs/human-resources/Employee-Handbook.pdf]. Employees in essential positions may be required to work during emergency closures and winter closures based on the nature of their job duties and the reasons for the closure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide custodial services to designated areas in accordance with established standards.
  • Sweep, damp mop, spray buff, strip, and wax floors; vacuum, shampoo, and spot-clean carpets.
  • Clean and dust furniture, fixtures, walls, doors, trim, and exhibit cases; wax and polish furniture and fixtures as needed.
  • Clean restrooms and shower areas, including fixtures; restock supplies such as towels, soap, and paper products. May clean or wash kitchen supplies and equipment as required.
  • Wash windows and door glass; may wash and dust Venetian blinds.
  • Replace light bulbs and clean light fixtures.
  • Remove trash and maintain clean, properly lined trash containers.
  • Clean drinking fountains, ashtrays, and whiteboards.
  • Perform moving tasks and furniture/equipment relocation as directed.
  • Operate and maintain custodial equipment properly and ensure safe and appropriate use.
  • Provide general maintenance or grounds keeping services for designated areas.
  • Keep walkways and building entrances free of snow, ice, and debris.
  • Notify supervisor of damaged or missing furniture, equipment, fixtures, or other maintenance concerns.
  • Assist with emergency cleanups and special cleaning projects as directed.
  • Load, unload, and transport items such as furniture, file cabinets, exhibit cases, research equipment, and other heavy items as requested, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Complete apartment turns, including cleaning and preparing units as they are vacated.
  • Prepare areas for special events, including moving equipment or furniture; may set up public address systems and patrol assigned areas as directed.
  • Respond courteously to questions or requests from building occupants.
  • Unlock and/or lock designated buildings as directed by the supervisor.
