About The Position

Lake Forest School District 115 is seeking a 12-month, Custodian and Safety Monitor (Weekend) Description: Checks for scheduled activities and ensures the building is accessible and lights are turned on. Patrols interior and exterior of campus checking for hazards and unauthorized individuals. Set up/clean up and secure areas after activities are over. Assists with various other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities, LFHS East/West Facilities Manager, and/or Custodial Supervisor. Work Schedule: Regular work schedule is Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM Flexibility is required; the work schedule is subject to being longer or changed for special events, athletic competitions, and other activities on East and West Campuses. Salary and Benefits: Base Starting Rate: $18.99/Hour Leaves - paid sick and personal days provided Pension - the district and employee contribute to IMRF Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Licensure High School Diploma or equivalent Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Understands basic custodial and security functions Ability to initiate and sustain assignments without an inordinate amount of supervision Ability to work harmoniously with others. Ability to communicate clearly-written and verbal. Ability to read and follow directions. Ability to use a computer. Essential Functions: Patrols and secures buildings at East and West Campuses Setup/clean up during and after extra curricular or sporting events inside and outside Routine indoor and outdoor washroom inspections during events. Re-stock paper products, empty trash as needed Manages outside facility users or visitors to East or West Campus Light snow and ice removal during winter months Perform various other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor on duty Patrols and monitors assigned areas, grounds and parking lots to deter, detect, stop, investigate and report unauthorized or suspicious persons, vehicles and activities Reports all hazardous and dangerous conditions that may affect the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors Assists with the posting of approved signage and notification flags at exterior access points Checks lots to ensure vehicles have proper parking authorization and are parked in assigned areas Performs a daily walk through inspections of facilities to ensure doors/gates are opened and secured at designated times Supports administrators and staff during emergency and crisis situations Monitors surveillance cameras to observe campus activity in designated areas Establishes security presence during evening events such as athletic competitions, open houses, dances, graduation ceremonies, etc Maintains a professional demeanor at all times and develops positive relationships with students, staff and community members Serves as a single point of contact at the Welcome Center and Commons; assigned duties include screening visitors, answering the phone, assisting staff, monitoring Life Safety Systems, directing first responders and supervising student check-in/out Reads and responds to email communications Safely operates a vehicle in all traffic conditions Protects the confidentiality of records and information about students, staff and school operations Serves as a team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, professionalism, and responsibility, values diversity and demonstrates sound problem solving and responsible decision-making skills Performs other job related duties as assigned by direct supervisor Adheres to Board of Education policies, procedures, and student rights and responsibilities Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, climb, balance, stoop, push, pull, and lift. The employee must lift and/or move up to SO pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly subject to inside and outside environmental conditions and is subject to loud noises, extreme heat, extreme cold, humidity, fumes, odors, gases, and hazards associated with moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
