About The Position

Western Nevada College is recruiting for a Custodial Worker 1 in the Facilities Management & Planning department in Carson City, NV. The ideal candidate will be responsible for cleaning restrooms, floors, stairwells, carpets, equipment, and chalk/whiteboards; emptying trash cans; stocking paper towels, toilet paper, and soap; wiping/disinfecting surfaces; assembling furniture; executing event setup and take-down, snow removal, and building security; maintaining custodial supplies; and other duties as assigned. PER EXECUTIVE ORDER 2025-002, ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL December 31, 2025. Please refer to the link for more information: executive-order-2025-002

Requirements

  • graduation from high school or equivalent education and six (6) months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR
  • Six (6) months of general work experience and six (6) months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR
  • Six (6) months of experience as a Custodial Worker Trainee in Nevada State service; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
  • Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
  • A valid Class “C” driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
