About The Position

Responsible for on-site leadership of campus custodial operations. Establish and follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and execute detailed written or oral instructions
  • Ability to use technology equipment (i.e. computer and iPad)
  • Knowledge of cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures
  • Ability to perform minor repairs
  • Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies
  • Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Effective communicator with ability to interface with custodial staff and campus administrators
  • Ability to work scheduled hours of 11:00am-7:30pm
  • Bilingual required; Spanish/English preferred
  • Five years of experience in custodial services

Responsibilities

  • Assign work to campus custodians and oversee completion according to district standards.
  • Train custodians on standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in enforcing departmental policies.
  • Support administration with communication to custodial staff.
  • Implement and maintain established cleaning schedules including emptying waste and cleaning floors, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.
  • Instruct assigned personnel (custodial leads) on proper and safe use of equipment and chemicals.
  • Schedule after hours custodians. (ie facility rentals and athletic events)
  • Supervise and implement summer custodial projects established by supervisor.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition by performing preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Recommend replacement of existing equipment based on condition and life-cycle plan established by supervisor.
  • Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and order additional supplies based on district wide inventory in District's CMMS system, upon supervisor's approval.
  • Transfer and deliver custodial supplies as needed.
  • Assist in setting up facilities for district wide special events and move equipment within building as directed by supervisor.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
  • Participate in custodial disciplinary action meetings.
  • Participate in lead custodian and custodian hiring process.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate electronic records of services provided in District's CMMS.
  • Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.
  • Work irregular hours and respond to after-hours emergency calls as needed.
  • Report building repairs needed via District's CMMS.
  • Attend monthly lead custodian meetings and yearly safter state required training.
  • Attend professional growth activities to keep abreast of innovative techniques in custodial operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Director and Assistant Director of Maintenance and Operations.
  • Monitor the work and enforce work assignments to building custodians.
