About The Position

Center Art LLC, managed by the Space Needle LLC, is partnering with Chihuly Studio to operate the Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibition on the Seattle Center grounds next to the Space Needle. GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: The Custodial Supervisor supports Center Art’s mission, vision and values by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence, competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, personalization, accountability and ownership. The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across all operational spaces, including two Seattle Center campus attractions and HUB administrative offices. This role supervises custodial functions while ensuring all guest-facing, team-facing, and back-of-house areas meet the highest standards of presentation, safety, and care. The position requires adaptability within a Flex Service model and a strong commitment to both guest and team member experiences.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support and instill a genuine desire to create a clean, safe, and positive environment for all guests and team members.
  • Promote safety and security while maintaining a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
  • Supervise and support custodial team members in daily operations, ensuring all responsibilities are executed efficiently and to standard.
  • Ensure all areas of the operation remain at peak levels of cleanliness, sanitation, and presentation while protecting the brand and artwork.
  • Oversee and perform custodial duties including restroom sanitation, trash removal, dusting, floor care (vacuuming, mopping, buffing, polishing), window cleaning, and supply stocking.
  • Execute theater and high-volume cleaning tasks such as preshow preparation, show-turn cleaning, and operational resets.
  • Maintain cleanliness in guest areas including lobbies, retail spaces, food and beverage locations, and plaza dining areas.
  • Ensure consistent execution of daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning routines and opening/closing procedures.
  • Maintain accountability with team members to ensure proper use of custodial equipment, adherence to procedures, and completion of assigned duties.
  • Act as a safety leader by identifying and addressing hazards (“see something, say something”).
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation standards, SDS requirements, and chemical handling procedures.
  • Maintain clean and organized custodial closets, equipment rooms, and storage areas using 5S practices.
  • Monitor and maintain exterior grounds, pathways, and garden areas to ensure they are clean and debris-free.
  • Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, pest activity, and any risks to artwork or facilities.
  • Assist in training, coaching, and development of custodial team members.
  • Communicate effectively with managers, supervisors, team members, and cross-functional departments.
  • Flex across multiple campus locations and adapt to changing operational needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of all operational procedures, policies, and facility information.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Respond to guest inquiries and provide information about the exhibition and surrounding area.
  • Any other responsibilities as defined by management.
  • Understand Fire/Life/Safety procedures and emergency response protocols.
  • Reassure and guide guests and team members in the event of an emergency.
  • Maintain the highest level of professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Support health, safety, and wellness initiatives.
  • Ensure hydration stations and high-touch areas are properly sanitized and maintained.
  • Participate in sustainability efforts by reducing waste and conserving resources.
  • Support community outreach opportunities when applicable.
  • Maintain flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends, based on business needs.
