About The Position

The Curriculum Development Assistant supports the development, organization, and implementation of high-quality curriculum for Completely KIDS’ before- and after-school programs. This role works closely with the Program Innovation & Curriculum Manager to write and adapt lessons, research activities, and assist with curriculum planning. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, creative, and invested in building meaningful, interconnected learning experiences for youth.

Requirements

  • Strong writing and editing skills (clear, concise instructional writing especially valued)
  • Ability to organize information and manage multiple tasks independently
  • Strong communication and reliability in a collaborative environment
  • Interest in youth development, afterschool programming, or curriculum design
  • High school diploma required

Nice To Haves

  • Comfort with Google Suite, Canva, Airtable, or similar platforms preferred
  • Experience in afterschool, summer programming, or informal learning environments preferred.
  • some college or coursework in education, child development, or related fields strongly preferred.
  • Volunteer or paid experience working with at-risk, school age children is preferred.
  • Volunteer or teaching experience in an educational setting with lesson plans is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Writing (Primary): Write, adapt, and revise lesson plans aligned to CK’s curriculum guardrails, YPQA standards, and Pathways model.
  • Format lessons for clarity, consistency, and ease of implementation by afterschool staff.
  • Research and vet activities for developmental fit, feasibility, and engagement.
  • Organize written materials in shared systems (Google Drive, Airtable, Canva, etc.).
  • Support creation of curriculum resources (handouts, scripts, instructions, visuals).
  • Help maintain a catalog of completed lessons and ongoing curriculum projects.
  • Curriculum Support & Implementation: Assist the Curriculum Coordinator with sequencing, Pathways planning, and session timelines.
  • Contribute ideas that make lessons more engaging, hands-on, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive.
  • Help test or prototype activities to ensure feasibility and quality.
  • Provide feedback on lesson clarity from a “staff end-user” perspective.
  • Materials & Warehouse Support (Secondary): Assist with light materials prep for lessons (e.g., cutting, laminating, bundling kits).
  • Help maintain basic warehouse organization (shelves, bins, supplies).
  • Participate in periodic “club flips,” inventory refresh, or supply check-ins.
  • Support curriculum-related events, showcases, or PD days as needed.
