About The Position

The W. P. Carey School of Business Undergraduate Programs team is seeking an energetic, organized, and self-motivated individual to support the First Year Experience (FYE) team. The FYE team delivers programming that promotes retention, connection, and engagement among first-year W. P. Carey students. Under the direction of the Program Manager, this position provides operational, administrative, and logistical support for WPC 101, the required first-year success course for immersion and online business students, and WPC 484, the leadership and training course for student facilitators. The role focuses on helping maintain smooth day-to-day operations by coordinating processes, managing details, and ensuring program components remain on track. Key responsibilities include supporting daily program operations; assisting with the selection, training, onboarding, and ongoing coordination of approximately 100 student facilitators and volunteer staff facilitators; maintaining accurate program records and data tracking; and preparing reports and materials as needed. The position also collaborates with the Program Manager and other stakeholders by providing input, logistical support, and implementation assistance related to curriculum updates and instructional activities, including support for weekly WPC 484 sessions. WPC 101 serves approximately 4,000 business students annually across immersion and online modalities. In addition, this role provides planning and on-the-ground support for large Undergraduate Programs Office events such as Business Community Advantage, Fall Welcome, Family Weekend, and Convocation. The position works closely with a variety of staff members within W. P. Carey and across campus to help ensure events and programs are executed efficiently. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and dependable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, support complex processes, and contribute positively to a collaborative team environment while demonstrating professionalism and integrity.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and one (1) year of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Nice To Haves

  • Evidence of Master’s degree or demonstrated progress toward Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas) and student information systems (PeopleSoft, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Google Suite Applications (i.e., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Slides, Docs, Sheets)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ASU or higher education academic structures and organization
  • Experience teaching students in higher education/college
  • Experience in designing and implementing academic support programming
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory and practices
  • Evidence of effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of retention practices and techniques
  • Experience in coordinating programs and events

Responsibilities

  • Support First-Year student programming through the WPC 101 Program to allow students to make meaningful connections and learn about university and academic resources.
  • Recruit, interview, select, and onboard student facilitators; assist in coordinating facilitator orientation, online training, and in-person training.
  • Support WPC 484 facilitation, covering leadership, facilitation skills, WPC 101 content review, and assignment grading.
  • Support oversight of tasks related to WPC 101 and WPC 484, such as building schedules, lesson plans, LMS management, assignment modules, and data assessment.
  • Provide support to student and staff facilitators and communicate weekly course materials and updates.
  • Support WPC 101 major program event coordination, including Spark Tank Finale and WPC 101 Bootcamp.
  • Other duties as assigned.
