About The Position

Rincon Consultants is seeking a Cultural Resources Assistant Project Manager possessing cultural resources management experience and specialized in California Archaeology to join our team of professionals working on a variety of projects including Utilities, Renewable Energy, Community Development, and other market sector projects. The role entails assisting project managers with large complex projects and assignments, while leading on small assignments. Duties include successfully executing tasks and completing project deliverables and work products, leading and participating in fieldwork, people management, and client coordination. Qualities of the ideal candidate(s) include: the ability to both collaborate as part of a team and work independently, attention to detail, excellent time management capabilities, strong communication skills, and an ability to apply feedback and expand one’s skill set.

Requirements

  • Meet or exceed the qualifications detailed in 36 CFR part 61 for Archaeology
  • Minimum of 2+ years of progressive and successful environmental consulting experience in the above-mentioned technical and project management areas
  • Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) certification preferred
  • Expertise in historic and prehistoric archaeology
  • A fundamental understanding of CEQA and NEPA as they relate to cultural resources and related fields, and Section 106 of the NHPA
  • Strong technical writing, field methods, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong work ethic, demonstrated leadership ability, effective communication skills, and ability to manage multiple projects and staff
  • Prior experience working in California on Renewables and desert region projects preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Osteology and/or faunal analysis experience
  • Geoarchaeological assessment experience
  • Experience/working relationships with local Native American groups .
  • Experience with large-scale utility programs
  • ​​Experience coordinating/interacting with environmental planners and other non-cultural resources experts
  • Fundamental knowledge of historic built environment resources

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate successful project completion of multiple projects with varied regulatory requirements including Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and National Environmental Policy Act
  • Assist with the management of projects, client expectations, schedules, and budgets
  • Prepare high-quality reports, contribute to environmental document sections, correspondences, and other written work products
  • Lead field projects including surveys, testing, and data recovery projects, and, in coordination with project managers and Directors/Principals, provide technical oversight of methods and data collection
  • Oversee and complete work products and fieldwork in a timely and efficient manner and ensuring quality of work products
  • Coordinate and lead project meetings
  • Coordinate with project managers and Directors/Principals in client, agency, stakeholder community including local Native American groups, Rincon peer, subcontractor, and vendor interactions
  • Work in multidisciplinary teams for successful project execution including planners, biologists, paleontologists, and others
  • Contribute to project proposals, including development of costs and schedules
  • Participate in Rincon’s mentorship program including engaging in peer-to-peer mentorship and engagement with senior mentors
  • Other duties as required by cultural resources Principals/Directors and others
