About The Position

Kimley-Horn is seeking Cultural Resource Management students for an intern position in their Riverside, CA office. This role involves supporting tribal, public, and private clients in conducting site inventory surveys, site conditions assessments, and site eligibility evaluations. It also includes work on cultural resources site records and technical studies in compliance with state and federal environmental and historic preservation laws like the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and/or Section 106 of the National Preservation Act (NHPA). The intern will support and engage in Tribal consultation and public outreach, and gain experience in conducting peer reviews of cultural resources technical reports and related chapters in environmental documents such as EIRs, EISs, and Land Use Plans. Requirements

  • In the process of receiving a Bachelors in Archeology or Architectural History with field school experience
  • In the process of receiving a Masters Degree in Archeology or closely related field (e.i. Anthropology or Architectural History) from an accredited program

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of the archeology field school is desired but not required for students earning a Masters degree

Responsibilities

  • Support in solving complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across teams to produce our clients' visions for the future built environment.
  • Work alongside project managers who support tribal, public, and private-sector clients as they navigate cultural resource management requirements under state and federal environmental and historic preservation law.
  • Support tribal, public, and private conducting site inventory surveys, site conditions assessments, and site eligibility evaluations, as well as cultural resources site records and technical studies pursuant to applicable state and federal environmental and historic preservation law, such as the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and/or Section 106 of the National Preservation Act (NHPA).
  • Support and/or engage in Tribal consultation and public outreach.
  • Conduct peer reviews of cultural resources technical reports, as well as applicable related chapters in environmental documents (i.e. EIRs, EISs, Land Use Plans, etc.)
