At the heart of GLOW Academy is a focus on “whole girl” education. We seek to foster the growth of leadership and confidence in our students and build and sustain family support, all while engaging all of our students in a rigorous college preparatory program. This means that GLOW emphasizes the following areas to ensure that each girl has a successful 6-12 experience and continues on to college: leadership development, early college and career awareness, health and wellness and expanded opportunities in science, technology, math and the arts. Do you want to help us create a positive school culture that supports our students’ ability to graduate, go to college and succeed in life? If so, you are a great candidate to teach at Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington, and we encourage you to apply for our Culinary Arts Teacher position. The Opportunity: Under the general direction of the GLOW principal and working in concert with the High School Culinary Teacher, this teacher provides leadership support in the culinary arts educational environment that encourages and nurtures learning for all students, primarily in grades 6-8. They will provide supervision to students in a variety of school related settings, monitor and evaluate student outcomes, develop, select and/or modify lesson plans to ensure all student needs are met, maintain appropriate records, and follow all policies and procedures of GLOW Academy. Provide quality instruction in the area of Culinary Arts; assess and encourage student progress, and manage an effective learning environment to maximize student achievement. This is an opportunity to build upon the middle school curriculum that has been established over the past few years to enable a seamless transition from middle school to high school culinary.
