About The Position

Cook Our Culinary Department is seeking a Full-Time Cook to join our team. Job Summary The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving nutritious, high-quality, and visually appealing meals to residents and guests. This role supports resident health and satisfaction by following menus, dietary requirements, food safety standards, and providing excellent customer service in a long-term care setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to menus, recipes, and daily meal census
• Adjust recipes as needed and minimize food waste
• Plate meals attractively, ensuring proper portion control
• Meet scheduled meal times and assist with snack and water passes
• Follow strict personal hygiene and food safety practices
• Monitor and document food and equipment temperatures
• Properly thaw, store, label, and date food items
• Prevent cross-contamination and cook foods to required internal temperatures
• Comply with Minnesota Food Code and infection control policies
• Receive and inspect food and supplies for quality and quantity
• Store food properly in dry storage, refrigerators, coolers, and freezers
• Record food and supply shortages
• Clean and sanitize kitchen, dining areas, and work surfaces
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and report malfunctions
• Dispose of trash and recyclables appropriately
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment
• Work collaboratively with dietary and facility staff
• Assist with training and orientation of new employees
• Communicate resident care needs and changes to the team
• Provide coverage and support to ensure adequate resident care
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations
