About The Position

The CTE Future Health Care Professionals Teacher will serve as the founding instructor for Mastery Thomas High School’s new CTE program that will launch in August 2026 for the 2026-27 school year, responsible for implementing a curriculum that prepares students to pursue certification as medical assistants and their postsecondary pathway of choice after graduation.

  • One of the following qualifications:
  • Graduated from an approved school of professional nursing and currently licensed as an RN in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; or
  • Graduated from an approved and nationally accredited postsecondary school for medical assistant and certified as a Medical Assistant
  • Along with:
  • At least 4 years of full-time wage-earning experience as a Medical Assistant
  • CTE Health Sciences CTE Teacher certification- must provide proof of completion of occupational competency assessment and enrollment in university program prior to start date
  • Ability to physically perform the essential duties of the role as outlined above, and to work in the environmental conditions required, such as traveling to network campuses, monitoring and interacting with students, in-person facilitation of trainings, etc.
  • This role may require frequent travel between multiple locations. Reliable transportation is essential to fulfill job responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop rigorous and appropriate lesson plans, assignments, and assessments aligned to the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s CTE Program of Study Task List, the Certified Medical Assistant industry-recognized credential exam, the NOCTI and PA learning standards
  • Lead engaging instruction for students aligned with career-connected learning best practices
  • Maintain consistent classroom routines and procedures while also supporting individualized student learning
  • Prepare students to successfully pass certification exams for industry-recognized credentials and make a well-informed post-secondary pathway decision aligned with this CTE program, including two-year college, four-year college and/or workforce
  • Lead hands-on learning opportunities in a newly constructed Certified Medical Assistant lab classroom space and in the field to provide students with practice opportunities and feedback on real-life skills they will need for success in health care careers
  • Work closely with school leaders to analyze student growth & progress and use data to inform instruction
  • Engage families in their children’s education by building relationships and maintaining regular communication
  • Manage and support program compliance with all PDE CTE requirements
  • Collaborate with other Thomas High and Mastery CTE and career connected learning teachers across the network to discuss student work, share best practices, plan events, and ensure student mastery of standards
  • Coordinate partnerships with external organizations to provide health care career exposure opportunities for students including job shadowing, guest speakers, field trips, community service, internships and/or paid jobs in collaboration with the Assistant Principal of Post-Secondary and school-based post-secondary team
  • Commit to ongoing professional development to learn CTE educator best practices in the spirit of continuous improvement
  • Lead engagement and feedback gathering from Occupational Advisory Committee (OAC) members to ensure that programming, facilities, equipment and curriculum is aligned with labor and workforce industry needs
