CSWS Refugee Services Intern - Catholic Charities of Oregon
About The Position
This is a Community Service Work Study student employment position. Applicants must have Federal Work Study funds in their Financial Aid package. Interns working on this project will be involved in the final stages of implementing a program creating support groups, youth classes and adult classes primarily for refugee and immigrant individuals and families, but low-income US citizens will also be among participants. Classes and groups will focus on identified need in the community and will include topics such as ESL , job readiness, financial literacy, and combating social isolation in adults. Youth classes and groups will provide greater emphasis on access to support in school and additional learning opportunities. Location : 2740 SE Powell Blvd Portland, OR 97202 Note: Student may not earn more than $1,000 total in this position, which equates to 59 hours during the Spring semester.
Requirements
- Must have Federal Work Study fund in Financial Aid Package (contact [email protected] with questions)
- Must work at Catholic Charities office
- Must have availability during the timeframe Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working with people who don’t speak English as their primary language
