About The Position

Position Summary: The Camps and Youth Programs Coordinator, part of CSU Spur’s Education & Visitor Engagement team, supports the CSU Spur vision by leading the planning, development, and execution of all out of school-time camps and youth programs, including seasonal camps, afterschool offerings, and the high school internship program. The role will also work to launch a new Youth Volunteer Program aligned with the existing Adult Volunteer Program. This position works closely with CSU System partners and community organizations to expand and deliver high quality K-12 day camps, secure and maintain CSU Spur’s child care licensing, coordinate daily logistics, market program offerings, and train staff and volunteers. The coordinator reports to the Senior Education Manager and works with the team to help meet programmatic and revenue goals while ensuring equitable access for youth. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience (with diploma/GED) in nonformal educational programming in a museum or other cultural facility setting or out-of-school-time camp coordination.
  • 5 years relevant experience with a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience coordinating nonformal out-of-school time educational programs, such as camps, and educational experiences, including working with various stakeholders to develop programs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Must be able to meet School Age Program Director qualifications as outlined by CO State Rules and Regulations within one year of hire.

  • Preferred candidates hold a School-Age Program Director Qualification from Colorado Department of Early Childhood.

  • Familiar with scientific concepts surrounding food, water, and environmental health.
  • Experience working with informal educational interpretative techniques and experiential learning.
  • Demonstrated professional experience collaborating and working with adult volunteers.
  • Demonstrated professional experience collaborating and working with youth volunteers and/or high school student interns.
  • Demonstrated experience developing educational programming independently and in partnership with stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate with program constituents in both Spanish and English.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and relevant ability with, communities in urban and rural settings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, growth, and implementation of out-of-school time camps and youth programs (including before and after school programs) for K-12th grade audiences across the CSU Spur campus, collaborating with CSU System faculty, staff, and community partner organizations to plan, develop, market, train, evaluate, and successfully execute offerings.
  • Ensure compliance with state and CSU regulations for youth programming, including implementing the Colorado Child Care Licensing Process.
  • Develop CSU Spur’s Youth Volunteer and Internship programs, including identifying, growing, and coordinating youth volunteer and high school intern placement, as well as coordination with district and school staff, in various programs and projects throughout the Spur campus and for special events throughout the year.
  • Collaborate with the Education & Visitor Engagement team to develop and deliver successful programs for community youth, including scheduling staff and volunteers, securing rooms, training and mentoring, program facilitation, and developing new engagement opportunities for youth.
  • Track, analyze, and report program bookings and revenue generation.
  • Assist in budget planning, tracking, invoicing, and purchasing.
  • Lead efforts in recruitment, training, coaching, mentoring, recognition and appreciation, and evaluating youth participating in programs.
  • Lead educational programs and support program development for multigenerational audiences, PreK-12 school groups, educators, and events throughout the CSU Spur campus and at promotional events as needed.
