About The Position

The CSE Industry Research Collaboration Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) and regional industry R&D partners. Working in collaboration with University Advancement and other institutional partners, this role builds and maintains partnerships that support senior projects, internships, research collaborations, and industry-sponsored initiatives across the departments and programs housed within CSE. The position requires strategic coordination, communication, and project management skills to ensure successful outcomes for students, faculty, and industry collaborators. This role ensures that CSE students gain industry-relevant experiences, faculty benefit from applied collaborations, and regional employers see direct value from their partnerships with WWU. The Industry Research Collaboration Coordinator builds long-term bridges between academia and industry, strengthening the CSE’s reputation as a hub of innovation and workforce development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent professional experience in a technical field like engineering or computer science. Degrees in business, communication, or related fields will also be considered with demonstrated experience working directly with technical teams or in a STEM-focused organization.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills suitable for internal and external communication with diverse technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple concurrent initiatives, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism when representing the university with external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and coordinate across multiple units, departments and/or organizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Recent professional experience in an industry or academic role involving engineering, computer science, or applied research.
  • Experience facilitating partnerships between academia and industry.
  • Familiarity with project-based learning models, senior capstone experience, or workforce development initiatives.
  • Experience with financial tracking, compliance, or contract administration.
  • Experience organizing events, presentations, or industry showcases.
