About The Position

Langara College Continuing Studies is accepting applications for temporary, part-time instructors to teach in the Fall term beginning September 8, 2026. Successful candidates will provide instruction to students in the Environmental Sustainability In Canadian Logistics (Micro-credential) program. Applicants should possess subject-matter expertise and substantive industry experience in sustainable transportation, distribution, and supply chain logistics. Key areas of focus include: ESG and business performance; operational efficiency in Canadian and international freight; biodiversity and environmental protection strategies; and current government/industry legislation and regulations. Candidates should also demonstrate proficiency in fleet management technologies and the ongoing digitization of the freight transportation sector. Candidates will prepare and deliver instruction to adult students. Preference will be given to experienced applicants who have credentials and/or relevant degrees with demonstrated leadership experience in professional or higher-education settings. Knowledge of an online LMS for academic instruction and learning facilitation is preferred. Experience with teaching or training groups of students in post-secondary education would be valuable for this role.

Requirements

  • Relevant professional certification is preferred (CITT-Certified Logistics Professional, SCMP, CIFFA, CITP, certification in sustainable supply chain).
  • Candidates should have a degree/diploma credential in a relevant field from an accredited college or university at the time of application.
  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience working in a relevant professional role is expected.
  • Ability to communicate well in English, orally and in writing, is required.
  • Applicants must be comfortable working with students of all abilities and diverse backgrounds, both in an in-person classroom setting and in online-learning delivery modalities.
  • Post-secondary educational teaching or training experience of at least 2 years, including experience with course planning, implementation, learning assessment and classroom management is preferred.
  • Knowledge of a learning management system, such as Brightspace by D2L or Canvas LMS, is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct students from diverse cultural and language backgrounds is preferred.
  • Understanding of Adult Learning Principles is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Course Preparation, delivery, and administrative duties
  • Creates and maintains a safe, equitable, inclusive and respectful learning environment for all students
  • Develops and/or utilizes various instructional strategies and delivery methods to achieve the learning objectives as directed in the course outline
  • Instructs students using lectures, assignments, case studies, textbook materials, presentations, discussion groups and other appropriate activities
  • Employs available instructor resources and teaching materials from textbook and other sources; prepares or upgrades lessons and then delivers quality classes to achieve learning outcomes
  • Informs students about College procedures and policies, course requirements and expectations, assessments and grading, behavioral expectations and attendance policies
  • Develops and grades course exams, quizzes, assignments, and student project grading as required
  • Advises students and provides additional learning assistance and support as needed
  • Maintains daily student grading records and grades submissions
  • Performs other duties related to a teaching environment as needed
  • Adheres to the Policies and Procedures of Langara College
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with administrators, peers, support staff, students and the community at large
  • Participates in scheduled meetings and appropriate college-related activities as requested by the Program Manager.
