About The Position

The purpose of this position is to perform routine work in assisting school children and pedestrians in crossing a street or intersection while traveling to and from school; all other related work as required. The Crossing Guard is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control.

Responsibilities

• Stops traffic to allow children and pedestrians to cross busy street intersections.
• Maintains awareness of present or potential traffic hazards in area surrounding assigned crossings.
• Promptly informs supervisor of any hazards and possible remedial steps to be taken.
• Follows all standard safety requirements of a crossing guard as established by the Town of Easton.
• Attends any necessary training programs.
• Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
