About The Position

DEFINITION Under the direct supervision of Police Administration, escorts school children across public streets as needed.
Requirements
- Knowledge of: Dealing with the public, especially children Laws pertaining to crosswalk usage
- Ability to: Wear safety vest when on duty Put up and take down warning devices Relate to public in positive manner Deal positively with children Act rational in stressful situations
- Experience, Education, Training, Skill, License or Certificate: Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience which provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be: Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Experience: Customer Service Skills
- License/Certificate: Must possess at the time of employment and continuously throughout employment a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a representative of the City of Mesquite, demonstrating a positive attitude and progressive actions through the display of professionalism, courtesy, and appropriate tact and discretion in all interactions with other employees and with the public.
- Set up and take down orange warning cones used in crosswalks to provide a safe avenue for school children.
- Stops traffic by holding warning sign as high as possible over head.
- Escort school children across streets at prescribed times of day.
- Wear safety gear in performance of duty.
- Be dependable and meet acceptable attendance requirements at all times.
- Follow all applicable safety rules and regulations.
