About The Position

The City of Woodstock is accepting applications for a seasonal School Crossing Guard with the Woodstock Police Department for the end of the 2025-2026 school year and continuing with the 2026-2027 school year. The Crossing Guard staff is responsible for seven (7) dedicated school crossings within the City of Woodstock and provides direction and assistance to children crossing streets and maintains children's safety in traffic. Crossing Guards work Monday - Friday at a designated crossing location during the school year. Positions are scheduled in two shifts: 1.5 hours in the early morning and 1.5 hours mid-afternoon.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/equivalent
  • Consistent work record demonstrating dependability and punctuality
  • Ability to deal with the general public, especially children, in a pleasant, courteous manner
  • Ability to pass a drug test and criminal background check
  • Tolerance of all weather conditions and ability to work in various temperatures
  • Ability to stand and walk for the entire 1.5 hour shift
  • Visual and auditory acuity, whether natural or corrected
