About The Position

Danvers Public Schools is looking to hire crossing guards for the upcoming school year. School Crossing Guards are part-time personnel (approximately 10) hours/week employed by the Danvers Public Schools The Crossing Guard plays a critical role in the safety and security of child pedestrians. All applicants shall submit to a CORI check and fingerprints as a condition of employment General Responsibilities All Crossing Guards should report to their corners at least 10 minutes before you're AM and PM hours and be standing at your assigned corner NO MATTER what the weather is. If you are sick or have an emergency situation, you are required to let Officer Ryan Greene know with at least 1 hour notice. Applicants must be able to perform the physical demands of the job which consist of walking and standing up for periods of an hour, in a variety of weather conditions. When stopping traffic to allow children to cross, ensure that it can be accomplished in a safe and orderly manner before signaling with the stop sign. Be familiar with Danvers Public School calendars for when children will be dismissed early. During your shift (AM & PM) smoking and cell phone use are prohibited. Responsibilities

  • Stand at assigned corner regardless of weather conditions.
  • Notify Officer Ryan Greene at least 1 hour in advance of any absence due to illness or emergency.
  • Perform the physical demands of the job, including walking and standing for an hour in various weather conditions.
  • Ensure safe and orderly traffic stops before signaling with the stop sign.
  • Familiarize yourself with Danvers Public School calendars for early dismissals.
  • Refrain from smoking and cell phone use during shifts.
  • Never offer transportation to a student.
