About The Position

As Crop Protection Product Safety & Compliance Leader for UPL North America, you will manage and coordinate regulatory compliance, safety documentation, and transportation regulations for UPL's product line. Reporting to the Head of Regulatory for North America, you will oversee creation and publication of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for finished products and R&D formulations, ensuring compliance with US DOT, OSHA HAZCOM, and international transportation regulations, and serving as the primary point of contact for regulatory queries. You will handle EPA FIFRA 6(a)(2) reporting, Canada ERAP coordination, EPA establishment reporting, and manage emergency response communication.

Requirements

  • Ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years’ experience in product safety and compliance management
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the laws and regulations pertaining to domestic and international transportation (DOT, IATA, IMDG, GHS, TDG) and North American regulatory agencies relating to adverse effects and import classifications (EPA/FIFRA, CBP, TSCA 8 (e), Canada PCPA)
  • Demonstrated ability and knowledge of the regulations that affect and are related to development of Safety Data Sheets (OSHA, WHMIS, EPA, GHS) and the ability to extrapolate information from toxicity and ecotoxicity studies for generation of NA Safety Data Sheets.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, associates, customers, and suppliers.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to generate, update, and publish Safety Data Sheets all UPL finished products. Generate and issue SDS on all R&D formulations. Generate and publish Safety Data Sheets for post-harvest products.
  • Responsible for NMFC assignment and DOT Shipping description and coordination with Supply Chain, Marketing, Artwork Development, and Regulatory personne
  • Ensure US DOT regulations and OSHA HAZCOM requirements are communicated & adhered by working closely with domestic and global stakeholders
  • Single point of contact to address domestic and international transportation regulations queries for UPL line of products
  • Review incoming Chemtrec and Rocky Mountain reports to determine reportability under FIFRA 6(a)(2) Adverse effect requirements and assign reportable or not reportable; lead EPA FIFRA 6(a)(2) and Canada Adverse Effects training and procedures along with submissions to the EPA CDX portal. Maintain training logs.
  • Perform annual EPA Establishment Reporting by coordinating with internal stakeholders and submission to the EPA CDX portal. Responsible for obtaining or terminating establishment numbers. Also coordinate activities towards EPA annual maintenance fee payments.
  • Responsible for Canada ERAP coordination with Transport Canada and contracted emergency responder. Update ERAP annually as required and as necessary when changes are needed.
  • Manage Chemtrec contract information, submit product and R&D new and revised SDS to Chemtrec. Point of contact for all incoming emergency calls & coordinate internal and external communications as required.
