About The Position

As a Registered Nurse at CHI St. Vincent in the Stepdown Unit, you will assist patients transitioning from intensive care to achieve optimal health and independence, enabling them to return home safely and confidently. Your daily responsibilities will include providing direct patient care, such as administering medication, monitoring vital signs, and managing complex patient needs. You are expected to collaborate effectively with physicians, other healthcare providers, and patients and their families. Success in this role requires strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and time management skills.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse license in good standing, State of Arkansas or compact state license required prior to start date
• 12 months of acute care experience is required (new graduates or nurses who have never worked in an acute care setting are hired through our residency training program)
• BLS through the American Heart Association is required within 30 days
• ACLS through the American Heart Association is required within 90 days

Nice To Haves

• Previous step down and/or ICU experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, monitoring vital signs, and managing complex patient needs
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, other healthcare providers, and patients and their families
• Check patients' health status daily and make note of any changes or concerns
• Care for multiple patients throughout the same shift, often varying in age and condition
• Monitor patients with life-saving medical equipment such as IVs, catheters, feeding tubes and ventilators
• Provide a comfortable and secure environment for the patient while acting as their advocate
