About The Position

Swope Health is seeking a dedicated and mission driven Crisis Response Specialist to provide support of people in their biggest times of need. The Crisis Response Specialists are dedicated to resolving emergency situations by providing brief and intensive services with the goal of reducing the need for hospitalization, diverting from justice system contact, providing crisis intervention, and offering outreach and police support. Our Crisis Response Specialists serve as engagement experts to some of the most vulnerable citizens of Jackson County.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field.
  • Provisionally Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) under approved supervision, Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) under approved supervision, or other provisionally licensed mental health professional under approved supervision.
  • A strong desire to provide intensive crisis intervention services to the community, be well versed in suicide and safety assessments, and be willing to strongly advocate for the best interests of the clients we serve.
  • Ability to engage in independent decision-making for matters of significance, specifically, accurately determining an individual’s level of risk of harm to self or others and the most appropriate interventions.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in the Behavioral Health Field

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed as Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

Responsibilities

  • Responds to behavioral health crisis calls/needs, within Swope Health facilities and within the community.
  • Provides intervention and assistance to help the client deal with the immediate crisis and prevent hospitalization, when feasible.
  • Provides coordination of care for matters of significance, to include risk assessment and safety planning.
  • Facilitates hospitalization of clients when such action is determined to be necessary.
  • Coordinates services for referrals received from/made to other MCRTs.
  • Conducts wellness checks, via phone, telehealth or face to face, for existing clients in need of extra support to avoid a crisis situation.
  • Completes all clinical documentation required to develop ACI and other necessary reports. This includes completing all crisis notes within 48 hours of intervention.
  • Must demonstrate a working knowledge of Crisis Intervention strategies, as determined through annual evaluation of competencies
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
