About The Position

Crisis Liaison Case Manager is responsible for assisting the Crisis Team and Case Managers, and other support staff in providing crisis services within a multi-disciplinary treatment team. The Crisis Liaison Case Manager supports individuals experiencing mental health crises in community settings as part of a mobile crisis response team, which includes licensed therapists, case managers, and peer support specialists. This role provides timely intervention, stabilization, and connection to appropriate care, either through Kanza’s wraparound services or higher levels of care, such as psychiatric hospitalization. Typical settings include a Kanza office, local hospitals, local law enforcement offices, local schools, or home settings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or four years of equivalent education and/or experience working in the human services field.
  • Certification in the State of Kansas to provide the service, which includes criminal, abuse/neglect registry, and professional background checks.
  • Completion of a training program approved by KDADS within 6 months of hiring.
  • Must be proficient in the English Language.

  • Experience using Electronic Medical Record preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Triage crisis phone calls and coordinate needed services.
  • Assist Crisis Team, QMHPs and other involved staff in coordinating state or acute psychiatric hospitalizations or crisis/respite bed facility admissions and discharges.
  • Assist Crisis Services Manager, QMHPs and other involved staff by providing supportive interaction with clients in crisis to maintain safety.
  • Communicate and work with community partners (hospital ER, primary care physician, law enforcement, and school staff) as needed to keep informed of crisis status.
  • Crisis Liaison fulfills the duties and responsibilities as Hospital Liaison for the state hospital.
  • Crisis Liaison will fulfill the duties of the PRTF Coordinator. This will require coordination, phone calls, and discharge planning with PRTF where the client is placed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
