About The Position

Provide crisis assessment and intervention to individuals of all ages presenting with a variety of intensive mental health/behavioral health needs and make appropriate referrals as necessary for Center outpatient services and community support. Services are completed in office face-to-face and via HIPAA-compliant televideo platform from community locations such as individual’s home, local hospital, or law enforcement center. Services are provided under the general supervision of the Crisis Services Manager and as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.

Requirements

  • Requires a master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Counseling, or other related field that meets criterion established by the Kansas Behavioral Science Regulatory Board (BSRB).
  • Current licensure and credentialing by the State of Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board as an LMSW (LSCSW), LMFT (LCMFT), LPC (LCPC), or LMLP (LCP).
  • Must be at least 18 years old, proficient in the English language, pass pre-employment background check and drug screen, have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to perform the day-to-day physical requirements of the position, including sitting for long periods of time, data entry into various computer software programs, movement and travel to various community agencies, and ability to lift up to twenty-five pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Complete urgent/emergent mental health service phone triage, admission evaluations, crisis assessment and intervention, safety planning, and hospital coordination for voluntary or involuntary hospital admission.
  • Provide crisis counseling to individuals with severe mental health/behavioral needs and collaborate with collateral supports and contacts as necessary (family, school, hospital, law enforcement).
  • Conduct intake assessments with appropriate referrals for other services, diagnostic evaluation, and development of initial treatment plans with client and family.
  • Provide individual, family, group and couples psychotherapy/counseling services in the office setting and via HIPAA-compliant televideo platform using evidence-based practices
  • Consult and coordinate with other professionals and external providers for treatment coordination.
  • Make appropriate referrals to needed Center services and community supports.
  • Produces client-related service records and maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation consistent with agency policies and procedures.
  • All services must be provided under general supervision of the Crisis Services Manager and conducted in accordance with current agency policies and procedures.
  • Receives on-going supervision from the Crisis Services Manager.
  • Maintains current State of Kansas licensure requirements and adheres to professional ethical guidelines and state/federal laws.
  • Performs other duties as reasonably assigned by supervisor which are consistent with the position and in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
