About The Position

The following description of staff roles and responsibilities is a general list of those tasks which individual staff members may be asked to perform. It is not exhaustive and it imposes no obligations on the agency. The Chief Executive Officer may, at his or her discretion, add to, delete from or otherwise modify the duties of staff, whether paid or volunteer. For a position to be deleted, the Board of Directors must approve the decision. The Program Manager oversees and manages the provision of support for assigned clients referred and placed at our Crisis Diversion site, including supervision of staff. This position interacts with program clients and must be familiar with the Guiding Values issued by the Developmental Disabilities Administration. The Program Manager seeks to act in accordance with those values and upholds the agency mission “to serve individuals with developmental disabilities by providing an array of residential and other support services that will result in maximizing the person’s quality of life.”

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • HS Graduate/GED and at least five years of experience working in social services or Associates degree and at least two years of experience working in social services or Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of experience working in social services
  • Valid Washington State drivers’ license, current automobile insurance and qualifying driving record
  • Background inquiry clearance from an authorized state agency
  • Department of Health License (NAR, NAC, or HCA)
  • Washington State Driver’s license
  • Food Handler’s Permit (group home only)
  • First Aid / CPR
  • Prior to beginning work, complete a minimum of six total hours of DSHS-approved training in the following topics. Trauma-informed practices.
  • One of the following DSHS-approved crisis prevention and intervention trainings: Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI); Mandated reporting; Right Response; Therapeutic Options
  • Complete additional training no more than 90 days after the client enters services or no more than 90 days after date of hire, which includes: Complete a minimum of two hours of dual diagnosis core competency training (this includes diagnostic practices for people with intellectual disabilities and mental health conditions).
  • An employee working with a client in the program must complete at least six additional hours of DSHS-approved, client-specific training on an annual basis.
  • Automobile insurance that meets Washington State requirements
  • Provide driver’s abstract every year or upon request from agency

  • Able and willing to compile, categorize, calculate, audit, or verify information or data
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of software commonly used to perform the essential functions of the position (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Intermediate to advance knowledge of principles and processes for providing supported living and personal care supports
  • Intermediate ability to handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiate with others
  • Willing and able to encourage others and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members
  • Identify the developmental, educational or training needs of others; assist in the development of training programs or classes; facilitate teaching or instructing others
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of performance management and the supervision of personnel
  • Demonstrated ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense and to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the provision of participant’s health, behavioral, safety, social and medical support with a focus on discharge goals, as described in the participant’s Crisis Services Treatment Plan
  • Develop and assist in the implementation of the participants Crisis Services Treatment Plan within 48 hours of admission to the program.
  • Collaborate with the BCBA on the implementation of Positive Behavior Support within 30 days of the participants placement.
  • Provide direction and oversight to participant outings and activities
  • Facilitate participants accessing their community regularly for activities appropriate to their age
  • Provide on-call and after-hour supervision, direction and support as needed or assigned
  • Coordinate, facilitate and assist with participant’s medical and behavioral programs
  • Maintain regular and consistent communication with participants medical/behavioral health team
  • Coordinate and assist with the provision of health care, nurse delegation and medication management
  • Schedule, facilitate or participate in training as needed or assigned
  • Coordinate with the Pharmacy and medical providers to ensure prescribed medications are available at the time of intake.
  • Oversee client referrals that become eligible for the Diversion Bed Services.
  • Collaborate with the Branch Director with maintaining a log of all formal referrals for Crisis Diversion Bed Services
  • Collaborate with DDA in scheduling a discharge planning meeting
  • Consistently and accurately maintain client records in compliance with local, state, federal, agency and contractual regulations or requirements
  • Review and audit records periodically
  • Review written and electronic documentation regularly
  • Address documentation errors promptly
  • Provide assistance and training on the use of objective, professional language and terminology as necessary
  • Assist with the supervision and management of both client’s individual and house financial accounts
  • Coordinate with appropriate personnel to protect participants’ financial resources
  • Supervise and oversee the staffing support in both Diversion Units, working to promote staff cohesion and build staff morale
  • Develop and post a staffing schedule that meets participant staffing needs
  • Monitor use of staffing hours against established guidelines
  • Promptly notify Human Resources of shift vacancy, leaves of absence or other adverse staffing situations
  • Provide on-site training to employees in accordance with state, agency and contract requirements
  • Provide personnel supervision to assigned staff
  • Provide daily supervision of staff
  • Coordinate and facilitate monthly team meetings
  • Monitor and review staff responsibilities to ensure that the home(s) and agency vehicles are properly maintained and meet safety guidelines.
  • Maintain and sustain positive working relationships with participants’ families and friends, vocational program staff, day program staff, DDA Case/Resource Management and other service providers
  • Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars
  • Operate a personal and/or agency vehicle on a regular basis
  • Maintain personal vehicle in a safe operating condition
  • Maintain certifications and licenses, as a condition of employment
