Are you excited about this Crisis Counselor, Crisis Stabilization job? As a Part-Time Crisis Counselor at Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, you will play a pivotal role in supporting individuals facing serious mental illnesses, substance use disorders, or emotional impairments. Your responsibilities will include conducting needs assessments, providing independent living skills training, and performing crisis intervention, all aimed at facilitating community placement and recovery. You will leverage your solid understanding of supportive counseling techniques and group dynamics to enhance clients' rehabilitation experiences. Monitoring and documenting individual progress will be essential, ensuring adherence to legal guidelines such as HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. Your ability to establish rapport with clients and maintain effective relationships within a team will be crucial, especially in high-pressure situations. Proficiency in computer use will aid in preparing and maintaining detailed individual records, ensuring that each client receives the tailored support they require. Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Services (Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling)
- (1) year of experience providing behavioral health services to adults living with a serious mental illness or emotionally impaired.
- Must be registered with the Board of Counseling to practice as a QMHP-A or must register as a QMHP-Trainee within the first 30 days of employment.
- Valid Driver's License
