About The Position

UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Safe Harbor is seeking a passionate and driven Crisis Clinician Associate to join their Crisis Intervention team. This team provides 24/7 crisis services through phone support, mobile response, and walk-in assessments. Under the guidance of the Crisis Clinician Supervisor, the associate will offer compassionate care to individuals of all ages facing self-identified crises. Responsibilities include crisis counseling, de-escalation, clinical assessment, coordination of services, and meeting with clients within the community. This is a night shift position, 11p-6a, four days per week, with a schedule built on a six-week rotation. Some weekends and holidays will be required. The dress code is business casual, and on-site parking is provided at no cost. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, Counseling or Social Work.
  • Other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience.
  • Consistent ability to respond calmly and effectively, using good clinical judgment to both psychiatric and medical emergencies.
  • Recovery-oriented interpersonal relations.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
  • Driver's License
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

Responsibilities

  • Complete Crisis Clinician orientation and build core skills in assessment, de-escalation, documentation, motivational interviewing, and EMR use.
  • Safely manage assigned crisis caseloads, conduct face-to-face and phone assessments, and respond effectively to crisis situations.
  • Provide person-centered, strength-based supportive counseling to promote consumer stability.
  • Collaborate with leadership and Clinician II to develop disposition plans, coordinate referrals, and advocate for appropriate program admissions.
  • Maintain documentation standards, participate in interdisciplinary activities, complete case reviews, and support a safe therapeutic milieu.
