This is a full-time, non-exempt position with primary working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm (37.5 hours/week). Paid training is provided. The Criminal Justice Specialist (CJS) program manages the needs of clients currently in County Prison or State Correctional Institutions. The specialist works with community providers, the clerk of courts, and the public defender to facilitate the timely release of individuals. The role involves advocating for medication routines and safety within institutions, providing referral assistance, and linking clients to housing, entitlements, treatment, and community activities upon release. The specialist monitors and follows up with individuals at least bi-weekly, and typically weekly. Key responsibilities include educating clients on available resources, assisting with goals related to basic living needs (housing, food, medical care, recreation, education, employment), accompanying clients to physical and behavioral health appointments, and direct involvement in discharge planning from state and community hospitals. The position also requires participation in occasional, rotating on-call shifts for after-hours crisis situations.
