JOB SUMMARY : Under general supervision, the Criminal Justice Institute Instructor (Advanced Training) coordinates and instructs Florida Department of Law Enforcement Criminal Justice Advanced and Specialized Training Courses.

Requirements

  • Must be a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) certified instructor or have a CJSTC 82 Instructor Exemption.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a certified criminal justice officer or three (3) years’ experience in the high-liability topic of instruction for which certification is sought.
  • Must be a public speaker with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs Advanced and Specialized Criminal Justice Programs as prescribed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the College.
  • Organizes, records, and processes required training attendance, certification, and/or training documentation.
  • Reviews and administers end-of-course examinations.
  • Secures examination materials and student results per FDLE, CJS, and College policies.
  • Uses the Scantron Test Scorer to grade Advanced and Specialized Training student examinations.
  • Integrates computer software and technology to provide interesting and professional presentations.
  • Maintains a safe and effective classroom environment.
  • Participates in department, division, and CJI Instructor meetings at least once per year.
  • Completes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
