About The Position

The department of Criminal Justice at High Point University is seeking to hire an adjunct instructor to teach CRJ 1900 (Intro to the Justice System) in the Spring semester of 2026. The course will start in January and continue through mid-May. The applicant must have a minimum of a master’s degree in criminal justice or a closely related field; prior experience in the criminal justice system or a Ph.D. is preferred but not required. The Intro to the Justice System course is a general course on the pillars of the criminal justice system; it covers topics that include introducing students to law enforcement, law, the court system, punishment, corrections (jails, prisons, and community corrections) and the latest technologies used in the criminal justice system. The instructor is required to prepare engaging lectures (informative and well-organized lectures which include formal learning objectives for each lecture), prepare course-related experiential learning activities, develop and grade tests and/or other assessments, report student attendance and other issues, and report mid-term and final course grades according to university procedures. The applicant must be able to teach the CRJ 1900 course at the scheduled time/days of 5:25pm till 7:05 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Spring semester of 2026.
