About The Position

The City of Carmel Police Department is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Criminal Intelligence Analyst to support complex investigations and proactive crime-fighting efforts. This role plays a critical part in analyzing intelligence, identifying crime trends, and supporting investigations involving major crimes, drug trafficking, violent crime, gangs, terrorism, and financial crimes. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Intelligence, or related field
  • Basic Criminal Analyst Certification (IALEIA or similar)
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in criminal intelligence or crime analysis
  • Active IDACS and NCIC certifications
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Advanced knowledge of law enforcement databases and intelligence systems
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to safeguard sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and law-enforcement software tools

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and correlate criminal intelligence to identify patterns, trends, and investigative leads
  • Produce analytical reports, link charts, crime statistics, and tactical products
  • Support investigations related to major crimes, narcotics, gangs, terrorism, money laundering, and serial offenses
  • Maintain and manage intelligence databases in compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Monitor open-source intelligence, media, and law enforcement bulletins
  • Assist investigators by locating addresses, phone numbers, and mapping information
  • Provide intelligence support during emergency responses, special events, and training exercises
  • Collaborate across units and agencies to enhance operational effectiveness
