About The Position

This position works independently to accomplish objectives established in the Agency Strategic Plan and the missions of the Enforcement and Investigative Support (EIS) and consults with other governmental agencies to evaluate their information needs and capabilities. This position reviews and evaluates missing children and adult cases to assess the need for critical response systems to include AMBER, Missing Child and Silver Alerts, search teams, scent trailing dogs; computer forensics, electronic tracking devices and other tools or resources available through private and public organizations.

Requirements

  • Experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or in a law enforcement agency.
  • Analytical experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or investigative experience in a law enforcement agency.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for four years of experience.
  • A master’s degree in criminology, law enforcement intelligence analysis, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis or comparable discipline; or a professional certificate in one of these disciplines can substitute for one year of experience.
  • Completion of a 720-hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in law enforcement can substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work flow, and other activities relating to the improvement of management practices
  • Ability to organize data into logical formats for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials
  • Ability to conduct fact finding research
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating incidents of missing children and adults
  • Providing analytical and lead coordination to local, state and federal law enforcement utilizing the incident command system
  • Developing leads for investigative follow-up, and when appropriate provides information suggestions concerning investigations based on knowledge of the evidence analyzed
  • Serving as liaison to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to facilitate the distribution of leads and vital data relevant to missing or exploited children
  • Consulting and providing management with data to determine recommendations for possible policy/statute changes based on case precedence
  • Maintaining an updated list of referrals for parents/guardians of missing children. Will send all materials necessary for EIS MEPIC participation, within timely manner of receiving the call for assistance
  • Coordinating meetings with external agencies in a manner that reflects well on the Department. Assures accommodations are suitable and appropriate provisions are made in advance for handouts, audiovisual, or other necessary equipment
  • Providing assistance to parents/guardians of missing children, missing adults and criminal justice officials regarding missing person and adults
  • Developing strategies to enhance the understanding and efficacy of services available from EIS to local law enforcement, other state and local agencies, and the public
  • Performing other related duties and/or tasks as required
