About The Position

The Crime Analyst supports law enforcement operations by delivering advanced analytical insights that guide strategic decisions, resource deployment, and proactive policing. This role involves conducting statistical and geospatial analysis using tools such as regression modeling, link analysis, and spatial-temporal studies to identify crime trends, patterns, and suspect profiles. Key responsibilities include: Produce reports, bulletins, and presentations for command staff, operations, and external partners. Responding to intelligence and data requests. Maintains statistical data and produces reports and provides regular updates. Supports strategic planning, forecasting agency needs based on available statistics. Collaborate with detectives, and outside agencies to ensure timely and accurate intelligence. The Analyst will be assigned to the Operations Captain and will tailor reports to meet operational needs. Work is performed under general supervision with significant autonomy. This position is classified as FLSA non-exempt-professional.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Criminology, Statistics, or related field.
  • Prefer two years of experience in crime or intelligence analysis in law enforcement, military, or government.
  • Extensive experience with trend analysis, data analysis, research methods, producing detailed reports and presentations.
  • Successful background check required.
  • Pre-employment substance testing required.
  • No felony or misdemeanor convictions above a Class C.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Crime Analysis, Statistics or Data Science.
  • Training in quantitative methods, and knowledge and use of related software.
  • Experience with large datasets and tools like Power BI, Tableau, GIS, SAS, or SPSS.
  • Familiarity with law enforcement operations and intelligence workflows.
