About The Position

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is currently seeking to fill a Crime Intelligence Analyst position. This is a full-time, essential position working closely with other crime intelligence analysts and supervision to provide tactical analytical assistance for criminal investigations.

Requirements

  • Four years of experience

  • Seven years of analytical experience
  • Nine years of analytical experience
  • Experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or in a law enforcement agency.
  • Analytical experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or investigative experience in a law enforcement agency.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for four years of experience.
  • A master’s degree in criminology, law enforcement intelligence analysis, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis or comparable discipline; or a professional certificate in one of these disciplines can substitute for one year of experience.
  • Completion of a 720-hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in law enforcement can substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Ability to effectively utilize common computer software such as Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to conduct thorough analytical assessments on assigned topics
  • Ability to train individuals in a one-on-one or group setting
  • Ability to create training materials
  • Ability to use problem solving techniques
  • Ability to prioritize workload
  • Ability to direct administrative personnel

  • Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating strong skills in critical thinking; analytical research and interpretation; developing and delivering presentations and training to internal FDLE members, as well as other law enforcement agencies throughout Florida.

Responsibilities

  • Providing support to squads in a Regional Operations Center or field office, or other specialized unit by initiating or assuming leadership in researching sophisticated or complex persons, organizations, businesses, and other entities involved in criminal activity to determine the structure and scope of criminal operations
  • Preparing analytical reports, summaries, assessments, and conclusions based on experience concerning investigations or intelligence collection efforts
  • Reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing current intelligence data, current events, periodicals and publications related to criminals, their activity and to crime trends and impact of specific crime within the operations center area
  • Presenting analytical findings via charts, graphics, written documents, and oral briefings
  • Generating and testing hypotheses and conclusions based on collected data and analytical and professional judgment
  • Coordinating with the case agent and SAS in identifying weaknesses, strengths, problems, and direction of criminal investigations
  • Assembling and arranging documents for trial purposes and preparing a variety of related reports, graphs, charts, and exhibits, and otherwise assisting investigative personnel and prosecutors with grand jury and trial
  • Performing as lead analyst on specialized complex analytical projects as well as criminal investigations
  • Responding to critical incidents or disasters, both natural and man-made, to perform duties consistent with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) protocols such as performing necessary duties in resource and mission tracking, logistics support, lead tracking, etc. Performing investigative/intelligence analytical functions for any critical incident response when needed. May be required to be on-call for a given time period and work nights, weekends and/or holidays as part of regional on-call response.
