About The Position

The Millings Crewperson performs layout, CNC programming, and machine work for cabinet and millwork assembly. Will assemble/fabricate/build/repair/mill/install cabinetry, furniture, tabletops, desks, doors, countertops, and related millwork components. Responsible for cabinet design and development using Cabinet Sense software, creating and editing CNC toolpaths using Aspire CNC software, and operating CNC machinery utilizing Mach 3 control systems. Finish, spray, and apply finishes to cabinetry, furniture, tabletops, desks, and related millwork items. Perform mandatory snow removal. Additionally, this position is responsible for servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Career and Technical Education (CTE) equipment throughout the district, including but not limited to CNC machines, kilns, saws, and other shop equipment to ensure safe and operational readiness.

  • Experience installing hardware such as hinges, drawer slides, keyboard trays, cabinet pulls, catches, shelf standards, etc. is required
  • Knowledge and experience in: CNC programming and machine setup
  • Cabinet design using Cabinet Sense software
  • Toolpath creation and editing using Aspire CNC software
  • Operating and troubleshooting Mach 3 CNC control systems
  • Reading blueprints, shop drawings, and technical diagrams
  • Servicing, maintaining, and repairing CTE equipment across multiple school sites
  • Must have a strong work ethic based on efficiency and customer service
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Maintain a valid Kansas driver's license at all times throughout employment
  • Minimum of 5 years experience, including experience with CNC programming and cabinet design software preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge in the application of finish to all types of wood millwork would be beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Performs work in a safe manner and report any hazardous conditions
  • Assists in maintaining good public relations, being cognizant that a Crewperson represents both the Facilities Division and Wichita Public Schools
  • Cooperate with other employees and maintain good public relations inside and outside of his/her assignment

  • Maintains appropriate licenses and certifications including a valid Kansas driver's license
  • Possesses superior knowledge of procedures, materials and equipment utilized in the designated area while displaying good workmanship, planning, and leadership

  • Works directly or indirectly under the Supervisor
  • Assists in preparing the annual preliminary budget and making requisitions for supplies, equipment and parts as required
  • Attendance at required meetings and in-services
  • Repairs all wooden furniture, teacher/student desks, tables of all sizes, bookcases, ping pong tables, folding lunch tables, cabinet doors, drawers, hardware, wood Repair classroom tables
  • Builds all types of cabinets, display cabinets, storage cabinets
  • Designs and program cabinetry and millwork components using Cabinet Sense and Aspire CNC software
  • Operate CNC routers using Mach 3 system to fabricate precision cabinet and millwork parts
  • Services, inspects, maintains, and repairs CTE equipment across the district including CNC machines, kilns, saws, and other shop equipment; diagnose mechanical and operational issues and ensure equipment is safe and functional for instructional use
  • Builds exterior building doors, size door and cut for wind
  • Cuts all types of base boards and trim Install sinks and various signs
  • Build library circulation desks, computer tech labs, all types of tabletops and countertops, shade mounting boards
  • Must have a strong work ethic based on efficiency and customer service
  • Must also be willing and able to navigate the Tririga work order program well enough to close work orders and produce time sheets along with telephone responsibilities and other office functions as needed
  • Will need to work closely with supervisor to stay current with the department's functions and needs
  • May be required to make purchases of materials and supplies
  • Performs mandatory snow removal.
  • Performs other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned by the Millings Supervisor.
