About The Position

Barton & Gray’s team in Portsmouth, NH is seeking an additional Crew Scheduler to assist in managing captain staffing assignments aboard Barton & Gray’s fleet in 30+ harbors. The successful individual will work diligently to ensure all available Member outings have sufficient Captain coverage on all 365 days of the year.

Requirements

  • Available for scheduled on-call rotating night & weekend hours
  • Some travel required
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Computer literacy; must display proficiency in MAC Applications, and database experience strongly preferred
  • Strong references (background check required)

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Crew Schedulers & Regional Crew Managers to monitor weekly work & time off schedules.
  • Manage the B&G Clubhouse Matchups accurately, ensuring coverage at all times.
  • Review historical and future captain assignments to monitor for burnout.
  • Identify unique cross-region staffing solutions to maximize uptime for all vessels.
  • Minimize overtime assignments whenever possible.
  • Troubleshoot & identify coverage solutions for unexpected time-off requests.
  • Assist in the planned relocation of captains throughout the season to meet changing harbor demands.
  • Monitor vessel type and captain credentials to ensure correct coverage (ie: OUPV vs. 50Ton).
  • Work with the Logistics department to monitor the schedule of new boats coming online throughout the season & anticipate future hiring needs.
  • Liaison with Human Resources to ensure Captain start & end dates are accurately tracked.
  • Work with the Payroll Department to ensure scheduled days off are accurately reflected in our payroll software.
  • Assist with Fall/Spring transition of captains & employment dates.
  • Assist in forecasting future hiring needs based on historical usage data & company growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by reporting manager.
