About The Position

Cedars crew members are tasked with delivering a memorable guest experience. Cedars is a family owned business that's been serving hearty middle eastern food to Chicago South Siders for over two decades! We are also a hip-hop-loving, instagram-forward, fun-loving gang that works hard and gets busy with a menu that is inspired by our mantra: "Mideast meets Midwest". Our crew members are trained to deliver a memorable guest experience by greeting customers, building connections, offering suggestions, and maintaining a clean, and tidy restaurant and ensuring that vibes are warm, cozy, and welcoming. As a crew member, your responsibilities fall into 4 broad categories: - Providing exceptional customer service. - Opening & closing according to restaurant procedures. - Mise en Place. Working on prep or side tasks to stay ahead of the rush. - Cleaning and organizing, and restocking. Requirements

  • Previous experience with customer service preferred but not required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A valid Food Handler Certification
  • Able to frequently lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Able to stack, walk and move during the entire shift including frequent bending and stooping.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting Customers, taking orders, offering suggestions, upselling specials, answering questions, building connections with guests including getting to know our regulars - embracing the guest experience.
  • Addressing customer issues, complaints, and knowing when to call a Shift Lead for support.
  • Follow sop's for cash handling, and processing payments.
  • Complete checklists and prep lists for given shift and work alongside Shift leads on sidework projects.
  • Follow Recipes and SOP's to complete prep lists.
  • Monitor dining room activity to stay on top of cleaning tables, reorganizing tables and chairs, sweeping and mopping as needed, and restocking/refilling of water and utensil Station.
  • Seamlessly bounce between station to ensure orders are being fulilled in an accurate, high standard, and timely manner, prep, and cleaning.
  • Assist Shift Leads during catering order execution by holding down the floor, working on prep, or as needed.
  • Maintain communication with the kitchen, team members, and leadership to ensure proper flow of orders and any issues that may arise.
